He Has NOTHING In Me!

(Rom 8:5)  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
(Rom 8:6)  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
(Rom 8:7)  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
(Rom 8:8)  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

(Joh 14:30)  Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

(Eph 2:2)  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

I was reading the other night, and I thought it important to share some of the scriptures the Lord gave to me. In light of all the mixture many of the saints find themselves entertaining, I became very grieved. If we are called to be set apart and take no part of the unclean thing, I simply could not understand why so many saints were willing to play with fire. But as the Word is a double edged sword, I realized that we all do it, so this is an exhortation to us all, including myself.

The very first scripture is the one that stood out most to me. To understand that to be in the flesh means that we cannot (are incapable of pleasing) please God adds a new layer of seriousness to the issue. As one who has been freed from the law of sin and death, I would not want to become a slave again simply because of the attractiveness of the things in this world. Giving up my inheritance for temporary satisfaction on earth (or for a morsel of bread as my friend, Tia puts it) is not an option, but so many are forfeiting the prize for the temporary satisfaction here.
Our pattern and our goal in all things should be to be like Christ who proclaimed that the prince of the world has "nothing in me." That means that the enemy who dictates the system of this world had no portion in Him. We too should strive for this lifestyle. Ephesians 4:27 tells us to not give place to the Devil, yet so many of us play games with this. But if we believe that the words of the Bible are true, we have to believe that God gave us these warnings for a reason.
I know personally, I don't want to be bound. Knowing freedom is awesome, and understanding the freedom that we have in Christ is motivation enough to not defile myself with mixture. Many people use the excuse that it doesn't take all that and that people are being to extra. I too, am sometimes tempted to think this way, but I fear God and refuse to take Him lightly; in short, it does take all that. We can't do what we feel like doing and only pray and study when its convenient. To do this would be like offering our minds up to carnality. Jesus did NOTHING from Himself. If Jesus is far greater than we are, and even He knew that it was best to do the Father's will and not His own, then why do we set ourselves up to believe that it is in us to direct our own way? (Jer 10:23)
If we want bondage, we are free to go back to it, but if we want to walk and remain in freedom, we must walk after the pattern of Jesus, not giving any place to the devil. Like Jesus, I want to be able to say that the prince of the world has nothing in me!

Change Your Mind

[I had fainted], unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Psalm 27:13

Hello All,
As I was praying today, I considered some of my own difficulties and how some of the dread we feel toward those difficulties are partly a result of our mindset toward them.
The scripture above exposes David's desperation and near fainting, but just as David did, we must trust that we too will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Goodness may mean different things to different people, but we must trust that despite the warfare, and despite the pressure, we will see it.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:2

Have a wonderful day! Rest in His love, and let your mind be renewed to believe that you WILL see His goodness!

Abide in His Shadow

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 91:1

I had prayed this scripture this morning, and as I was praying, I felt that there was another layer to this that I had never acknowledged. Of course this scripture is referring to us being able to go to the Lord for refuge and protection, but I had not paid attention to the empowerment that was in this scripture.

Abiding in God's shadow doesn't just mean that His shadow is a place where we sit still and where He fights on our behalf, but it is a place where we remain. To abide is to live, dwell and remain there, and if we remain in the shadow of the Almighty, we must acknowledge that we are being overshadowed by His might. We don't just go there to avoid trouble, we live in and abide in His might. When we walk into a place full of torment and darts, we know that the Almighty is overshadowing us and not only that those things will not touch us, but that they must also flee. Abiding in His shadow means that we will walk in His power, but the key here is to make Him our habitation--not just the place we go when running from trouble. If we make Him our habitation, trouble itself will run, because instead of seeing us, trouble will see the shadow of the Almighty.

5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; [nor] for the arrow [that] flieth by day;
6[Nor] for the pestilence [that] walketh in darkness; [nor] for the destruction [that] wasteth at noonday.
7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee.
8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9Because thou hast made the LORD, [which is] my refuge, [even] the most High, thy habitation;
10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12They shall bear thee up in [their] hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I [will be] with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Psalm 91:5-16

Let's purpose to make the Lord Almighty our dwelling place!

Worthy

So, as I was praying this morning, and even later as I was worshiping at an event I attended, the Lord began to give me revelation concerning the word worthy. When I was using the word worthy in worship, he reminded me of a scripture:
45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.
46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
Matthew 13:45-46

As the pearl in this scripture was of such great worth that the merchant sold everything he had to obtain it, likewise is the kingdom. This merchant knew that this pearl was so valuable that none of his earthly possessions were worth having more than that pearl. Jesus' parable is totally parallel to the attitude that we should have toward the Lord. That word valuable is translated as precious and very costly. We have to acknowledge that the Lord is indeed precious, and that he is worth more than the value of everything else we have. There is NOTHING in our lives more valuable than the Lord himself. When we acknowledge this, we won't continue to seek out satisfaction in everything else, only to still be left dissatisfied. And we won't grieve the Lord by putting other things before Him.

So when we sing "Worthy is the Lamb" let us do it with knowledge. And let us worship Him with that song in spirit and in truth, for "Worthy is the Lamb!"

In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"
Revelation 5:12

Meditating on a Promise

Hello All,
I needed to remind myself of this today, and just thought I would remind others as well:

For the LORD God [is] a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good [thing] will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11

I have been young, and [now] am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Psalm 37:25

It seems simple, but it is refreshing to know that I serve a God who will not forsake me and who will provide for me. He is a father unlike natural ones. And He is faithful! So, if you, like me, sometimes overlook these things and consider becoming anxious even for a moment, remember these wonderful scriptures and meditate on them if need be.
